1. Install Firewall on your PC or Laptop.

And for software firewall you can get it for free or buy it. Actually, your operating system usually has firewall installed on it. For example if you using Windows from Microsoft, you can activate your firewall by configure it from control panel. Always update your firewall regularly for optimizing your security system. Sometime if you connect your PC/Laptop to the internet, your firewall software will try to reach their update from internet and update it automatically.
2. Always update your Antivirus
Always update your antivirus regularly because it will inform to your antivirus program about new definitions viruses on the net.
3. Practice patch management
Your operating system is not perfect. Sometime there are many holes in the security system that usually attract to be attacked. For this purpose, your OS provider always release new patches to close the holes. Always update your OS security system by downloading new patch update. If you use Windows OS like XP or Vista you can activate automatic update, so when you connect to the internet you will get your OS update automatically when new patch is released.
4. BACK UP your data
Always back up your important data regularly because we don't know when your security system is crash. And you have to know that the most important stuff in your PC/Laptop is your DATA!

There are tips & trick for choosing laptop :
1. Decide if you're better served by the PC/Windows platform or the Macintosh or the Linux. You can generally get a faster computer for your money by choosing a Windows OS (Operating System) platform or if you want more complete built-in software you should choose laptop with Macintosh platform. For the cheapest choice you can buy laptop with Linux OS, this OS is very good in security and provide free service, update and software but Linux is harder to understand for beginner.
2. Choose the top brand's laptop to ensure your laptop's quality. Top brands are Dell, Acer , IBM, Hewlett- Packard and Toshiba. And if you want to use Macintosh OS of course you have to choose Apple.
3. Think about what you will do with your laptop. If you want to make your laptop as Multimedia tools, doing your homework and for playing your favourite game, you should consider to buy laptop with good vga card inside (at least with 256 MB memory) and at least with 1 GB RAM. So you can run your favourite applications smoothly. But if you just use your laptop for doing homework, you can choose laptop with at least 512 MB RAM and it's ok to choose low end vga card (with 64 MB memory or shared memory).
4. What about the processor? sometime we think that this is the most important thing in laptop. Yeah, sometime we can be true or we can be wrong. But in fact memory or RAM (Random Acces Memory) is more critical than a faster processor. Buy as much random-access memory (RAM), or system memory, as you can afford. At a bare minimum, get 256 megabytes (MB); 512 MB or 1 GB is preferable. (For a Macintosh, get at least 256 MB and for Vista get at least 1 GB to run it smoothly, but for Linux you can use 128 MB or more than 256 MB (is preferable)). There are two famous brand of processor : Intel and AMD. For gamers and overclockers, they usually choose AMD and for graphic designers they usually use Intel's processor. At the same level, you can get AMD's processor cheaper than Intel's processor.
5. Get at least two universal serial bus (USB) connections and a FireWire (also called IEEE 1394) connection. These will connect peripheral devices, such as a printer, PDA, digital cameras , scanners and game controllers. And you should choose a laptop with card reader, ethernet card (lan card), modem and wi-fi card inside. This will be very useful for you to connect to the internet and transfer data to another terminal.
6. Make sure that you choose laptop with DVD writer so you can burn your data to CD or DVD. Make sure your machine has a DVD drive if you want to watch movies on your laptop. And also you should choose laptop with large capacity of hard drives if you have large data to save (120 to 180 gigabytes (GB) is now commonplace).
7. Ask about upgradability if you intend to use your laptop for a long time, which is considered three or more years. And ask about guarantee of your laptop, many major manufacturers usually also provide support and service on the web. How to use your PC or Laptop safely


Our behavior of using PC/laptop determine the safety of our pC/laptop. Although the effect from our fault can make we lose
some data and files, some people maybe don't to be bothered with it. There are many tips for you to make your PC/laptop more
safe.

1. Use password
Use combination of letter, number or character and always use different password for different account. Although it will bother some people if they don't have strong memory, you will safe your account.
2. Clean your PC/laptop from junk files
Make sure that you clean up your PC/laptop from junk files regularly. You can use many free software available at internet for this purpose. Also clean & remove duplicate files from your hard disk. Junk files and duplicate files only reduce your hard disk space.
3. Activate your firewall
Internet world nowdays is not a safe world anymore. There are many scammer & spyware that always watching for you. So you should activate your firewall because it will block all acces which don't have permit from you.
4. Update your antivirus
Beside firewall, you need to install antivirus program. But that is not enough. You should update it regularly. Good antivirus is antivirus which can update automatically.
5. Limit your program
Limit your installed program. Just install programs/software that you need and avoid installing software from unknown source. Scan your file with antivirus after you download and remember read the license carefully:)
6. Beware of email
Do you accept email with attachment? Beware of it! Although your email is from your friends or relations, make sure that you scan it first with your antivirus. There are many kind virus and malware which are using attachment file for their medium.
7. Beware of click
Do you always click when you curious about something? Wait! Beware of it! Make sure you know the extensions (.exe, .txt, etc) first. If they have .exe extension, you should scan it first before you click it because maybe you will click a virus:( And make sure when you open a folder just change the appearance into the detail version so you can know the file's type.
